Cinematic delivery scene: She's doing something random in the most convenient of places, the water breaks, she gasps, they gasp, they rush her to the OT, the baby's born, her hair and makeup is intact, and poof! The baby bump has disappeared.
Reality check: It is nothing like you've watched on TV before. It ain't so calm, it ain't so easy, and it definitely ain't so non-messy. Your labour is going to be quite the opposite. You'll scream, you'll push, you'll get tired, someone else will push your tummy, you'll perspire lakes and rivers, you'll cry, you'll scream again, and again, and again. The only thing that's going to be as on television is the happiness you will experience when you see your baby after the ordeal.
That feeling is inexplicable. No one can tell you how it feels, because no two mums feel the exact same thing. And yet, every mother's heart is always exploding with joy and gratitude when the baby is in her arms for the first time. And that feeling continues till the very end of time.
It is only a matter of time. You will understand and know it for yourself, very soon! Until then, relax. Take a chill pill. You're going through a priceless phase. Cherish it.
